25,000 Iraqi Dinar Banknote / 25,000 IQD
Fine ←Thru→ Extremely Fine Condition
Introducing the 25 Thousand Iraqi Dinar banknote, commonly read as 25,000 IQD. The 25,000 Dinar banknote is currently the second largest denomination of Iraqi Dinar currency in printed circulation from the 11th issue of IQD. The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) first issued the Iraqi Dinar in 1932, marking the replacement of the India Rupee within Iraq. The 50 IQD banknote was removed from circulation in 2015, at the same time the 50,000 IQD banknote was introduced. Today, there is a total of 7 different IQD banknote denominations in circulation, ranging from the 250 IQD note, up to 50,000 IQD, and the 25,000 IQD banknote shown here.
The Iraqi dinar was pegged on par to the British pound until the year 1959. This valuation eventually switched to the US. dollar in 1959. The foreign currency exchange rate later determined that one Iraqi dinar to be equal to $2.80 USD. By 1973, the Iraqi Dinar had shown strong economic growth and thus increased in value to $3.3778 / $1 USD, before a small 5% rate valuation correction devalued the Dinar to $3.2169 USD. The new rate and economy remained continually stable while pegged to the U.S. Dollar, until the Gulf War in 1990-91.
Though the CBI IQD is a monetized currency in Iraq, because of the constant conflict and war they experience, together with their non-global banking system, the Iraqi Dinar is not widely accepted as a monetary instrument throughout the world. As a result, the Iraqi Dinar holds only a collectible value throughout many countries. The IQD banknotes have become extremely popular among collectors world wide, especially in the United States. The Iraqi Dinar banknotes are detailed with colorful images of Iraq's historic landmarks, and feature some of the most advanced security features used in production of paper currency today. All of this makes Iraqi Dinar Banknotes a MUST HAVE addition to any collectible banknote portfolio. Be sure to grab a few of these amazing Dinar banknotes to add to your collection!
